The Transitional Justice Working Group (TJWG) and Global Rights Compliance (GRC), with the generous support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), present “Seeking Creative Accountability Pathways for North Korean Human Rights: Documenting Violations and Mapping the Chain of Command.”
A pivotal side-event during the 22nd Session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Dec 7, 2023, 13:15-14:30 EDT, at UN Headquarters, New York.
The side-event has historic significance as the first-ever ICC ASP event on North Korea.
Co-sponsored by the Republic of Korea, Canada and the United States, this event illuminates crimes against humanity and other grave human rights abuses perpetrated in North Korea. These crimes include but are not limited to torture, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, public executions, and other state-sponsored killings.
